After the 1-1 draw against Royal Knokke FC last week, Club played its second practice match today ahead of the new season. Club won with convincing 4-1 figures after an owngoal by Ljubicic and goals by Jutglà, Talbi, Barberà. Watch the video with highlights below.
Early in the first half, the Greeks took the lead after a corner. Garcia first hit the crossbar with his volley, but via Mignolet's back the ball landed unhappily in his own goal. Barely a minute later the signs were level again after a back pass from Robert Ljubicic. The fierce wind completely surprised goalkeeper Brignoli, sending the ball into his own goal.
In the 30th minute, Club Brugge deservedly took the lead. Vanaken reached Jutglà with a nice cross ball, who finished easily in the bottom left corner. At the stroke of half-time, Blauw-Zwart took a comfortable 3-1 lead. Talbi flicked the ball over the goalkeeper after a nice cross from Nielsen.
Second half
The second half started with some new faces. Romeo Vermant replaced Ferran Jutglà. At AEK, there were two substitutions: Noureddine Amrabat and Petros Mantalos entered the field, while Niclas Eliasson and Robert Ljubicic remained in the locker room. After the first 15 minutes, EK Athens had the clear upper hand and had the best chances. Mitoglou shot narrowly wide of the goal after a corner. Later, Garcia was right in front of Mignolet's goal, but failed to finish.
In the 65th minute a lot of substitutions followed at Blauw-Zwart: Boyata, Et-Taïbi, newcomer Romero, De Smet Lenn, Wylin, De Smet Liam, Barbera, Granados and Bisiwu came on the field. Only the previously entered Romeo Vermant and goalkeeper Mignolet remained.
Another short five-minute break followed after 75 minutes. Mignolet remained on the sidelines, De Corte being his replacement. The Greeks also had a completely new team: Theocharis (GK), Chrysopoulos, Radonja, Katsikas, Roukounakis, Kanellopoulos, Kosidis, Fofana and Theodoridis came in.
New offensive impetus at Club Brugge and AEK created a lot of goal chances for both teams. Et-Taïbi advanced and put good pressure on goalkeeper Theocharis. He got the ball into his feet, finished well, but the goal was disallowed due to hand play.
After 40 minutes, the debut of Argentine Romero was over. He and Vermant went to rest. In their place came Da Silva and Willems.
With 15 minutes left on the clock, the game went up and down nicely. A distance shot by Granados stranded on the outside of the post. Barberà also failed to get the 4-1 on the scoreboard: goalkeeper Theocharis saved in a 1-on-1 situation. Deep into the final minutes of the match, Club Brugge added one more. Granados delivered the 4-1 on a tray, Barbera finished on an open goal.
