A day after the draw against Cercle, another match was already scheduled. Today's opponent: KVC Westerlo. Club started with some established values combined with some young players. Tibo Persyn made his debut in Blue-Black colors.
Both teams kept each other in balance in the opening phase without creating any major chances. The first was for Perez who came up well at the far post on a cross from Sandra. He tried in time, but Van Langendonck managed to parry his hard shot. Moments later it was Dost's turn, but his header stranded on the post. At the other end, it was a prize when Vaesen slipped past the offside trap. He stepped in with an overhead kick and left goalkeeper Lammens no chance. Just before halftime, Van den Keybus tried his luck with a low slide. Van Langendonck was able to process in corner kick. Club went into the locker room with a 0-1 deficit.
The second half started with two new names: De Roeve and Mondele came to replace Persyn and Mbamba. After only five minutes, Club scored when Dost controlled the ball at the first post, following a pass from Sandra. Blauw-Zwart combined smoothly and less than ten minutes later there was another great chance. Perez climbed higher than everyone and everything, but his header disappeared against the goalpost. Badji and Okereke were both allowed 25 more minutes. They replaced Perez and goal scorer Dost. Ten minutes before time, Lammens pulled off a delightful double parry. First he took Jovanovic's hard shot and he also kept Vaesen's rebound out of the goal. The final chord was for Thomas Van den Keybus who snatched the leather off the edge of the sixteen five minutes before refereeing. He then penetrated the large rectangle and laid the ball in a controlled manner. Our young midfielder thus put the 2-1 final score on the board.
