A new season always means a little change. It's no different for the ladies of Club YLA, either. Tomorrow, Saturday, August 31, they kick off the Lotto Super League against OH Leuven. Find out all about the revamped women's league below.
Eight teams, an extra home match and playoffs. That, in a nutshell, is the renewed format of the Pro League for women's soccer.
Everything is about taking Belgian women's soccer to the next level. The new format would also allow at least one topper to take place each weekend and one match to be broadcast live each match day (each Saturday at 1:30 p.m.).
8 instead of 10 teams
Teams such as KV Mechelen, Charleroi and White Star Woluwe disappeared from the highest division, but with KVC Westerlo there is a newcomer this year. Thus, as of this season, there are 8 teams playing in the highest division of women's soccer.
An extra home match
So there will be a classic back and forth round. After these 14 playing days, an additional round of 7 matches will be played. Last year's top 4, including Club YLA, will get a home match bonus in that final round. Thus, the regular league ends after 21 playing days.
Play-Offs
After the regular league, the first four teams play for the title in a round of back-to-back games. Teams 5 through 8 also play each other twice. Each team has 27 playing days and we will know at the latest on Saturday, May 17, 2025, who will succeed RSCA Women as the national champion.
The season opener Club YLA - OH Leuven will be played tomorrow, Saturday, August 31, and is entirely dedicated to the new sleeve partner Think Pink. Meet at 13:30 in the Sportpark in Aalter!
Attention: the Renewi Tour will pass through Aalter on Saturday. As of 1 pm there will be no through traffic, so be sure to be on time !
