Six goals on the move at KVC Westerlo Ladies. Our ladies seemed to be on their way to victory for a long time, but a late equalizer from the home team ensured a 3-3 final score. The goals for Club YLA came from Boutiebi, Da Eira and Reynebeau.
The game could not have started any better for Club YLA. After only two minutes, Boutiebi put the Bruges team ahead with an early 0-1. Barely two minutes later, that lead was doubled: Da Eira was attentive and headed in the 0-2 from close range. Club YLA took firm control of the initiative and continued to threaten afterwards. Halfway through the first half, Petry came close to scoring her third goal, but her shot hit the crossbar. At halftime, a deserved 0-2 was on the scoreboard.
After the break, Westerlo tried to turn the tide and it paid off. In the 60th minute, the home team mitigated through the tying goal to 1-2, five minutes later the equalizer even followed. Club YLA, however, showed resilience. In the 79th minute, Reynebeau brought the Bruges ladies back into the lead with the 2-3 and the spoils seemed to be in.
In an exciting final phase, Westerlo kept pressing and deep into injury time the verdict fell. After a dropped ball on a corner kick, the Westerlo goalkeeper scored the 3-3, giving Club YLA the victory in extremis.
A bitter draw for Club YLA. Next week the Battle of Flanders against KAA Gent Ladies awaits.
