Last weekend Club YLA went down with the smallest difference at home against KAA Gent Ladies. It finished 1-2 after a game in which Blauw-Zwart was dominant for a long time.
The visitors took an early lead. After foul play by Chloé Vande Velde, the referee awarded a penalty kick to KAA Gent Ladies. Van Bristsom did not hesitate and converted the penalty after only three minutes: 0-1.
Club YLA recovered quickly and gradually took control of the match. In the 29th minute, that superiority was rewarded. After a rock-solid counter, Boutiebi brought the boards back into balance on a pass from Petry: 1-1. Blauw-Zwart had several more good chances before halftime, but failed to grab the lead. So both teams went into the locker rooms with a tie.
Also in the second half, Club YLA was the better team. However, with lots of shots and opportunities, a second goal did not materialize. Efficiency was lacking, and that broke the home team down sourly. In the 65th minute, against the run of play, KAA Gent Ladies took the lead again through Nanea Retsin: 1-2.
Despite a final offensive and several more Blue-Black chances, Club YLA was unable to turn the score around and was ultimately left empty-handed. In the standings, Club YLA retains third place with 21 points despite the points loss. RSC Anderlecht (26 points) and OH Leuven (28 points) are second and first, respectively, although both teams still have two games to go.
