Club's U21 are champions!

Club's U21 are the new champions! Coach Rik De Mil looks back hapilly on a terrific season. "We achieved our biggest goal by allowing a few boys to play for the first team. Apart from that, being crowned champions with the youngest squad is quite an achievement."

"We've progressed in the UEFA Youth League, got to the Belgian Cup quarter-finals and are now the champions. The average age of our team was the lowest compared to the other teams in our league", De Mil adds.

Club's U21 team was second in the league, two points behind the league leaders when the coronavirus halted all matches. Club had played two games less and was thus crowned champions after applying a coefficient to even things out. After the winter break, Club's U21 won five games in a row. "If you can end a competition and then win the title, it's a very rewarding feeling. Nevertheless we're happy - this decision was the only right one to take. These circumstances transcend football. Now we can celebrate a little bit, a party will be for later when the lockdown is over."

De Mil and his team had several goals for this season. "We achieved our biggest goal when Ignace Van der Brempt, Charles De Ketelaere and Maxim De Cuyper were moved to the first team. This shows the positive impact of our new Basecamp and the fruitful cooperation with the first team coaching staff. This title is one for everyone at Club."

"Every players now has an individual training schedule, a physical schedule and an individual diet. We keep in touch with regular video calls. We're alreay preparing for next season", says coach Rik De Mil.
