Dedryck Boyata worked his first full match after his knee injury. Together with Brandon Mechele, the Belgian defender prevented STVV from scoring and could look back on the match with satisfaction.
"I feel good. I'm satisfied with the win and that I was able to play today. After the matches against Porto and Standard, I felt something in my knee. Together with Club I worked hard on it. It's going better now. I've had a few injuries in my career and the scars remain. I'm back on track now. It remains to be seen if there is a reaction in the next few days. But I have no doubt it will be good."
Dedryck Boyata is already feeling right at home at Brugge. "For me, the first months have gone well here in Bruges. I have a good relationship with everyone, coach and physiotherapists. They give me time to adjust without preparation. I don't feel any pressure, the team is running well. It's ideal conditions to work. It is very interesting to be with this group, you measure yourself with players in shape. We each train hard for a place in the team. I am very positive about that. The defenders are working hard, even with changes in defense we are going for the clean sheet. I am very happy to be in Belgium, very close to my family in Brussels and Bruges. Here in Knokke the move is a bit difficult, but everything else is going well. I used to come to Bruges often on vacation."
The Belgian verdegiger would like to experience a third tournament in a row with the national team. "I want to make minutes now in a proper way, the World Cup is coming up which I would like to be a part of. I was there the two previous tournaments, but I have to work for my selection. I work for my minutes and today I got them. Although Sylla's suspension is not a good thing for the team. In Madrid, I still spoke with national coach Martinez. He asked me about my situation. He wanted me to be back there in the best conditions." (KN)
