Easy wins for Dortmund and Lazio, a draw for Zenit

Borussia Dortmund had a great dress rehearsal for Tuesday's Champions League match against Club Brugge after beating Herta BSC 2-5 with four goals by Haaland. Lazio took the three points home away against Crotone, while Zenit had to settle for a point against Grozny.

The ambitious Hertha BSC wanted to show what it's worth against a top team like Dortmund, but suffered a 2-5 defeat. Red Devils Boyata and Lukebakio were in the eleven for the home side, while the visitors had Meunier and Witsel in the starting line-up. The game started slowly with lots of misplaced passes. Dortmund had most of the possession, but it were the hosts who broke deadlock. Lukebakio found the unmarked Cunha and the Brazilian unleached an unstoppable strike from outside the box. The 1-0 score was also the half-time score.

After the break Dortmund immediately turned things around with two goals in five minutes. Who else than Golden boy Erling Haaland to give Dortmund the lead with two goals. While Berlin wanted to level things up, it was Dortmund again with a goal. Haaland completed his hat-trick and Guerreiro put the game to bed with a fourth goal for Die Schwarzgelben. Cunha pulled one back from the spot for the hosts, but in that very same minute Haaland scored his fourth goal of the evening: 2-5.

Because of Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw at home against Werder Bremen, Borussia are now only one point behind the leaders of the Bundesliga. (FDC)

Lazio Roma beat bottom of the league Crotone 0-2 with goals by Immobile and Correa. The first chances were for the Romans, but Correa's effort and Alberto's header were parried away by goalkeeper Cordaz. Halfway the first half Immobile opened the scoring with a firm header. A well-deserved lead for the visitors. Crotone proved dangerous through Benali and Reca, but both failed to find the back of the net.

Crotone was the most dangerous side at the start of the second half, but Reina was equal to a shot by Benali. Lazio didn't want Crotone to fight their way back into the game. Correa's first attempt didn'nt result in a goal, but on the hour mark he struck home on a pass from Immobile.

Afterwards both teams had some chances, but Simone Inzaghi's team held on to the lead. An excellent win for Lazio ahead of Tuesday's game against Zenit at the Stadio Olimpico. (VM)

Zenit Saint Petersburg travelled to the capital of Chechnya on matchday 15 of the Russian Premier League, against Akhmat Grozny who were fifth in the league. Zenit opened the scoring through Kuzyaev, but the hosts quickly equalised through Berisha. At the start of the second half Douglas Santos feeded the ball to Dejan Lovren who gave his side the lead again: 1-2. But the home side equalised again when Grozny was awarded a penalty. Berisha didn't miss and got his second of the evening.

Coach Semak sent his team out in attack, but to no avail: the score remained unchanced. In stoppage time defender Rakitskiy was sent off with a second yellow card. Because Zenit and CSKA Moscow both dropped points, the two teams are joined first, while CSKA still has one game in hand. (SF)
