Excelsior Moeskroen – Club Brugge: Club Facts

Club want to take the three points home on Sunday after their 2-1 defeat at Moeskroen last season. Have a look at the Club Facts below!

THE NUMBER: 4

Club only played four games at the 'new' Excelsior Moeskroen. The biggest victory was a 1-4 victory in 2014.

MAN IN BLACK

Mr. Alexandre Boucaut has been appointed referee for this game. His assistants are Mr. Jimmy Cremers and Mr. Patrick Plumes. Mr. Jordy Vermeire is the fourth official. Mr. Kris Bellon is the VAR.

It will be the 30th official Club match refereed by the 37-year-old referee. Club won five of the 17 prior away games with him as a referee and lost four games. Eight games ended on a draw. The only duel between Moeskroen and Club Brugge refereed by Boucaut had place last season. Moeskroen won 2-1 at Le Cannonier (2-1).

In the pre-season Mr. Boucaut already refereed the friendly between KV Mechelen and Club (0-0).

THE PLAYERS

Hans Vanaken might play his 150th Club match. The midfielder already won two Championships and two Supercups at the Blues.

Jelle Vossen might play his 100 league game for Club. He already scored 40 goals in 99 games.

Last season Dorin Rotariu played for Moeskroen on loan. This season the Romanian winger joined AZ Alkmaar on loan.

THE GAME

The first away game of the new season is the one at Moeskroen. Club are the best scoring team in the Jupiler Pro League for the moment and already scored in each away game at Moeskroen. The Blues won two of their four previous away games and lost twice.

Last season Club won their home game against Moeskroen while Moeskroen won their home game against Club. Last season Moeskroen opened the score after 18 minutes thanks to a goal of Jonathan Bolingi from the penalty point. Stefano Denswil quickly made the equalizer but Moeskroen won due to a second goal of Bolingi. On December 26, Club took revenge by winning 4-2 at home. Van Durmen and Godeau scored for Moeskroen while Limbombe, Vormer and Diaby (2x) scored for the Blues.

THE OPPONENT

On fixture 1 of the new season, Excel Mouscron lost at KV Ostend 2-1. Moeskroen took the lead via Idrisa Sambú but the coast team fought back after halftime via Brecht Capon and Fernando Canesin. The visiting team ended the game with nine players: Bruno Godeau got his second yellow card after 68 minutes while Diedhiou got a red card in extra time. Moeskroen will miss these two central defenders against Club.

Former Charleroi player Frank Defays is the coach of Moeskroen since February. Moeskroen experienced a strong season start under Mircea Rednic last year and was ranked top three after nine fixtures. Performances were worse afterwards and the team ended the regular league on the 14th place. The Walloon team ended their PO2-group on place three.
