THE PREVIOUS GAME

Just before travelling to Sint-Michielsgestel, Club ended the first part of the pre-season campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Beerschot.

At Club, newcomer Michal Skoras made his unofficial debut. Simon Mignolet, Hans Vanaken, Denis Odoi, Abakar Sylla, Raphael Onyedika and Lynnt Audoor also played their first 45 minutes in this pre-season. Still, the average age of all players that came into play was just below 23 years: 22.99.

Summer signing Skoras left a good impression and he topped off his performance with a clever assist for Hans Vanaken's 1-0. The Pole whipped in a good cross and Hans Vanaken beat goalkeeper Lathouwers with a header.

Moments later, the visiting goalie had to pick the ball out of the net a second time when Igor Thiago was able to score with a header on a cross from Mats Rits. After the break, 15-year-old academy player Jesse Bisiwu found Roman Yaremchuk in front of goal and the Ukrainian tapped in the low cross to make it three.

THE GAME

Club Brugge started the second part of their preparation with a training camp in Sint-Michielsgestel in the Netherlands.

The first opponent at our northern neighbors is already a solid one: the Dutch champion Feyenoord. Both clubs have never played each other officially, but have met in friendly matches before.

Last season Feyenoord became champions with 82 points, 7 more than PSV Eindhoven. Mexican Santiago Gimenez was the club's top shooter with 15 goals. Assist king was Iranian Alireza Jahanbakhsh with 7 indicated goals.

In the KNVB Cup, Feyenoord made it to the semifinals, where Ajax proved too strong. In the UEFA Europa League, the club was group winner in a pool with Lazio, Sturm Graz and Midtjylland, eliminated Shakhtar Donetsk but fell in the quarterfinals against AS Roma.

Arne Slot begins his third season as head coach of Feyenoord. So far it has been a success story with the Conference League final and the first national title in six seasons.

From the championship team, the club said goodbye to midfielder Orkun Kökcü this summer. The Turkish international with Dutch roots moved to SL Benfica (Por). As reinforcements, Feyenoord brought in midfielders Ramiz Zerrouli (Alg/Ned) from FC Twente and Thomas van den Belt (Ned) from PEC Zwolle, among others. Goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther (Ger) was now permanently committed after being on loan from RSC Anderlecht.

Club Brugge is Feyenoord's second opponent in the practice campaign. Last Saturday, they knocked Dutch promotionist PEC Zwolle 3-1. Danilo, Ezequiel Bullaude and Yankuba Minteh struck for the national champion.

Feyenoord prepare for the Super Cup on Aug. 4 against PSV, the Eredivisie, in which Fortuna Sittard will be the first opponent on Aug. 13, and the UEFA Champions League group stage in the third week of September. This game will be followed by practice matches against Union St.-Gillis, Villarreal CF and SL Benfica.
