Barely a week after the death of Dane Jan Sørensen (69), Blauw-Zwart is again plunged into deep mourning. His compatriot Ulrich le Fèvre (77) died last night in his home and hometown of Vejle after a lingering illness.
The left winger Le Fèvre was equally one of the absolute star players during the glorious Happel period (the second half of the 1970s). He began his career at the then Danish first division club Vejle. Ulrich was noticed there as a talent by Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach. He immediately claimed a leading role there and achieved many successes with the Borussians. It did not escape the scouts of Club Brugge.
Ulrich le Fèvre played five seasons at Olympia. He arrived as a 26-year-old in the summer of 1972 and ten months later gave Blauw-Zwart its first post-war title under coach Leo Canjels.
It was waiting for Ernst Happel to come to Club until le Fèvre again won prizes with Club. In both 1976 and 1977, he celebrated the national title with Club.
His last game for Club was the famous "Davies" cup, which Club was able to win 4-3 against Anderlecht after trailing 1-3. Le Fèvre scored the 2-3. He played 184 matches for Club, in which he scored 41 times.
Ulrich ended his career at Vejle. Jan Sörensen succeeded le Fèvre and coincidentally, both respectively delivered the decisive cross to René Vandereycken in the heroic European matches against Ipswich and Juventus.
To the family and relatives we offer our heartfelt condolences.
