Hans Vanaken: “Fully deserved qualification”
Another crucial role for Hans Vanaken in Club's overcoming Linz. With a heading goal in the second half, the midfielder piled on the pressure on Linz.
“I don't know whether this was one of the best games I ever played. I just try and do my best to keep things rolling for our team. Maybe this game didn't bring the finest of football, but I do think we did pretty well in the first half; it was inside the box that it didn't pan out for us. Come the second half, things were a tad weaker, but still we managed to break the deadlock upon corner kick. Then there's that penalty, with the equaliser rattling our cage a bit. That really shouldn't happen, but that's football for you.”
The red card saw Club play it out well. "Shortly after we scored our second and we knew it was done and dusted. I do reckon we deserved this qualification. It's with a confident minde we can watch the draw tomrorrow. I don't have any favourites, but it would be nice to play Barcelona once. Not just for us, but also for our loyal fanbase it would come as a huge reward.” (FDC)
