Hans Vanaken: “Struck back with perfect timing”
Even if Hans Vanaken did not manage to score this time, he had a major part in Club's going through to the CL PO's. Club's Golden Boot is looking forward to next week's encounter with Linsk.
“A high octane game with a good result. It was particularly hot, and we took a bad start to the game. A nightmare scenario, however, with that early goal. On the other hand, we knew that a goal from our side would put us in a great position. With five minutes to go in the first half, we scored that all-important goal. It came with perfect timing, as you could see belief falter in Kiev's minds. Our idea was to get through the first fifteen minutes in the second half without conceding, but again we suffered an early goal. We reacted well, however, by taking the game in hand and pushing on at the ideal moment. That was the key to get a fine result here.”
Even if Club's midfielder was elated after the draw, he remained level-headed. “We are thrilled by this qualificiation for the last prelims, but first there's the game against Eupen we need to take on. We will make the most of these two days to recover so we can take on that game under ideal circumstances. It's vital to focus on the next game every time again. It's ace that we made it past such a sturdy opponent. Next week's challenge against LASK Linz awaits, and we'll try to do the same as we brought in these two games.” (VM)
