Hans Vanaken brought Club Brugge into the lead with a very clever goal, but unfortunately that was not enough for victory. Blauw-Zwart eventually went down 3-1.
"I find it difficult to say whether this victory for Genk was deserved," the Club captain opened his match analysis. "Obviously it was a fierce battle from both sides, but I thought we played a good game especially in the first half. We were in control and against our high pressing, Genk initially didn't know what to do. That gave us some opportunities on the flanks, which we couldn't take advantage of enough because we didn't always know how to make the best choice to go ahead more than 0-1. Fifteen minutes after our opening goal, their equalizer actually fell out of the sky. All in all, I think we brought good soccer and hence I think that 3-1 defeat is excessive." (FDC)
