Club took the lead after just over a minute of play, thanks to Hans Vanaken. After a cross from Chong, the Limburger first found goalkeeper Otte in his way, but then was able to head in the rebound. Vanaken thus put Blauw-Zwart on track for a spacious 6-1 victory.
"Everyone perhaps expected such a victory," the Bruges captain told us. "And in retrospect, it makes sense then because Brakel has not been allowed to play for more than three months. In the first half they still went full steam ahead, but you know they will drop back in the second half. With my header goal we took an early lead, but a little later we stupidly got the equalizer and then it was back to square one for us. After that we lost our pace for a while, but then in the second half we were able to connect the dots and the job was done I would say."
