After a sour defeat at the Kortrijk field, Hans Vanaken and coach Ronny Deila reacted with disappointment.
"When it's 0-0 and you already have to fight against a wall defending, it's not easy," Vanaken began. "If it then becomes 1-0 again, then of course they put even more energy into their defense which makes it that much more difficult. There is then very little room to create real chances. It's very sour and frustrating because these are actually matches we just have to win."
Vanaken also feels there is an efficiency problem: "It's not good enough and we make it far too difficult for ourselves. Time after time we dominate but don't finish. I am very disappointed. There is nothing to do but keep working hard to turn this around, as cliché as it sounds."
Ronny Deila couldn't hide his disappointment either: "It's been somewhat the same pattern for us the last few games. I think we started the match very well with a great chance against the post by Thiago. Kortrijk was good in the conversion, we felt that, and then they get a big chance and a goal. After the goal I do think we kept playing soccer where we were able to create another big chance. In the second half we also kept going forward and really tried to push. Then it's very unfortunate that we didn't finish our chances and miss the penalty kick. It's especially disappointing because lately we've had a lot of games where we really dominate but can't finish our chances. All that matters is that you bang the ball against the nets and we didn't do that today." (MC)
