The time has come. Hans Vanaken wins the Golden Boot! A second individual accolade after being named professional footballer of the year in May, and the top prize after the Limburger had already finished 9th, 3rd and twice 4th in the past. Vanaken received the trophy for his regularly outstanding performances throughout the year.
The Red Devil finished 97 points ahead of Mehdi Carcela in the final standings, allowing him to lift the 65th Golden Boot into the air. In addition to Vanaken, Brandon Mechele and Ruud Vormer also featured in the top 10. For Blue-Black it is the 13th Golden Boot and especially the third in a row, which is unique in the history of the Tribe number 3.
In 2018, Vanaken scored 21 goals and also contributed 21 goals. The Limburger helped Club to a 15th national title and the Super Cup and also helped ensure a superb group stage in the Champions League. In the league, he was decisive every 110 minutes and was at the very top of many statistics. He was handed the trophy - the third in a row for Blue-Black - by Dries Mertens.
Congrats Hans! 🏆
