Ivan Leko: “The Club we saw in the first three games still stands a chance”
A combattive Ivan Leko at the traditional press conference, notwithstanding two weaker performances and a 6 point gap with KRC Genk. He saw an eager Club at training this week, but fully realises only the best version of Club can still go for that title.
Leko on… Denswil and Wesley
“After our game at Antwerp, Wesley and Stefano Denswil suffered from some slight injuries. Wesley suffered with the knee, while Stefano conceded a blow during the game. They haven't been training this week, but we hope to see them on Friday, in order to get ready for Sunday's game. We will have to wait and see.”
Leko on… the title aspirations
Six points behind, a hefty task awaits for Club, but Leko is not one to give up easily. “Before we started our game at Antwerp, we knew seven points would be game over, and six points a very tough job. It'll be rough, but everything's possible in football. We just need to react on the pitch on Sunday after our two last games. I hoped on a reaction against Antwerp already, but, even if there were signs of improvement, I had hoped for more. Next up on Sunday is Anderlecht, and I'm sure that will be all the motivation we need. If we miss out on the title, that would be a major disappointment to me.”
Leko on… Anderlecht
“Anderlecht is not as bad as you would think considering their results of late. They played a fine second half against us. Players the likes of Bolasie, Kums, Trebel, Verschaeren, Amuzu and Saelemaekers always want to show what they have in games like these. As to us, it's the perfect game to show our fans we want to play with passion. And that's what we all need to do together: trainer, players, fans, management, we are not alone. I really enjoyed what I saw at training yesterday, the Club I always want to see.”
