28 February 2013, the city derby against Cercle Brugge. Jonathan Blondel comes on for Victor Vazquez in the 74th minute after a long period of rehabilitation due to a left knee injury. Club Brugge win the derby convincingly 3-0. Jonathan Blondel is again a football player.

Monday 4 March 2013. Contact between Jonathan and left full-back Laurens De Bock inflict again an injury to the left knee of Blondel, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Blondel: "That was not my finest moment. I had just returned from an injury, I was pleased with my good substitution against Cercle and then it happend again... Being on the pitch was the only thing I wanted. Helping my teammates on the pitch, fighting together in the play-offs. But the injury decided otherwise."

But there is always hope. "I have been working very hard after I had surgery. Now I am on holiday with my family but that doesn't stop me from running daily so I'm ready to start the first training sessions with the rest of the team."

And all that hard work pays off. Blondel will start the preperation on Monday with the rest of the team. "I will need another two or three weeks to be fully ready I guess, but that's normal after five months of rehab. I am looking forward to start next season in top shape!"

I start the preperation with the rest of the team and I look forward to start the next season in top shape
