Lugano and Beşiktaş falter, win for Bodø/Glimt

UEFA Conference League

A bad dress rehearsal for FC Lugano, Club Brugge's opponents in next Thursday's Conference League encounter, as the Swiss suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Lausanne. A defeat for Beşiktaş too, while Bodø/Glimt remained in its winning ways.

Lausanne - FC Lugano 3-1

Plenty of changes to the FC Lugano line-up that had earned a 0-4 Cup win at Lausanne last week, but this time the hosts from Lausanne proved a tougher opponent. An uneventful first half was followed up with more action in the second, as Samuel Kalu managed to open in the 71st minute, just after Marques had been shown a red card, bringing Lugano down to ten. Still, the hosts managed to equalise through Sabbatini minutes later, but the joy was shortlived, as Kalu teed up Labeau to make it 2-1 in the 80th minute. Well into injury time, Schwizer put the result beyond doubt with the 3-1.

The defeat leaves Lugano in sixth position, nine points behind leaders Young Boys Bern. On Thursday, the Swiss make their way to Bruges in the Conference League. (EV)

FC Lugano: Deana, Marques, Hajdari, Hajrizi, Espinoza (83’ Arigoni), Bislimi (83’ Mai), Sabbatini, Belhadj (83’ Mahou), Bottani (41’ Cimignani), Babic (54’ Macek), Steffen.
Goals: 71’ Kalu (1-0), 75’ Sabbatini (1-1), 80’ Labeau (2-1), 90+4’ Schwizer (3-1).

Antalyaspor – Beşiktaş 3-2

Another defeat for Beşiktaş in the Turkish Süper Lig, this time suffereing a 3-2 loss at Antalyaspor. With the coffee already set out, Cenk Tosun took the visitors in the lead, but straight out of the dressing rooms, the hosts reacted without mercy, and in just about ten minutes the score was at 3-1. With Rebic and Muleka, the visitors lined up two more attackers, but Antalyaspor managed to keep Besiktas at bay. With ten minutes to go, Muleka brought tension to the game with the 3-2, but that was all that was in it. Eleven match days down the road, Besiktas is now twelve points behind leaders Galatasaray, who claimed the top spot after Fenerbahçe lost 2-3 to Trabzonspor. Stabaek - Bodø/Glimt 0-4

An away mission at Stabaek for FK Bodø/Glimt in the Norwegian home league, and a successful one, ending in a broad 0-4 win for coach Knutsen's outfit.

The game was done and dusted in the first half, as Sorli and Moumbagna put the visitors 0-2 in front halfway through the first half. Just before half time, Bjorkan added another one to the tally to make it 0-3 as the two teams headed for the dressing room. The second half saw less convincing action, and in injury time Saltnes, just on, made it 0-4 for the visitors. On Thursday, FK Bodø/Glimt take on Beşiktaş in the Conference League.
