“A thoroughly deserved win, but we should have rewarded ourselves even more in scoring that third or fourth. Then it wouldn't have just been an okay win. We had 70 or more percent ball possession, and had a number of really fine chances. We also only allowed them one opportunity. It's important to keep a clean sheet too, it's something we had trouble keeping hold of the past time. We knew they were going to run a tight ship in the back and opt for that one point. And the longer the game runs, the harder it got for them. It's vital to keep the pace high and to switch sides well. You need to keep your composure on the ball. You just know you'll get space to try and score that goal.”
The coach brought some new ideas to the table, and that was clearly visible on the pitch. "He has his ideas and pushes them through. We will be working hard on that. Each coach comes with his own little focal points, and it's no different with our new T1. You could already see so today; we tried building up from the back with lots of forward pressure. We had a good training week, and we need to continue along those lines. We now have a very important second half of the season ahead of us.”
Club now needs to reel in the points in order to keep the gap with Union as minimal as possible. “At home against STVV, you always have to win. We dropped way too many points in the first half of the season. Now there's no more room to err, so it's important to be making a statement with this win today.” (KN)
