Mats Rits, together with Vormer and Vanaken, was clearly boss in midfield, against a Standard that had been doing well in recent weeks. The Antwerp native was also behind the 2-1: Bodart was able to parry the midfielder's shot, but was then defenseless against Bas Dost's rebound.
"We kept control throughout the match. We did fall behind right away, but that can happen. The first chance for them fell well and was a goal. We didn't hesitate after that goal and responded immediately. We pressed them backwards and immediately looked for the equalizer and the lead. We also started well in the second half and went looking for the third goal. That was important. Right now we are running well, but things can go fast in soccer. At the turn of the year we were not even first, while we are currently fourteen points clear. That's good, but we have to keep working hard every day. That is important because the matches follow each other quickly." (KN)
