Mats Rits: "The three points had to stay at home"

With Kossounou replacing Mats Rits in midfield, Philippe Clement was a surprise in Club's starting line-up. A good ten minutes after halftime, Rits was allowed to step in for the injured Kossounou.

"The assignment was actually very simple," Rits said a few minutes after the final whistle. "If you get to play the first game of the playoffs at home, then the three points have to stay at home. We couldn't be satisfied with anything less. To be honest, I was a little surprised myself that I wasn't allowed to start, because I want to play every game against any team. I don't think our first half was very good. Anderlecht put a lot of pressure and we weren't calm enough on the ball, so we didn't find the right spaces, which were there. Our pressing wasn't great either, so we gave away too much space. We have to work on that in the coming games."

The head is off, so now on to the next match next Friday at Genk. "We had said beforehand that it would be six finals. So now it's five more. Next match we play away at Genk. Hence it's a dead loss that we only played a draw just now. Nevertheless, there too we have to go flat out for the three points with the same grinta we were able to show in the second half." (FDC)
