Osasuna lost 0-2 against Athletic Bilbao

UEFA Conference League

Osasuna, Club's opponent in the Play-Offs of the UEFA Conference League, lost 0-2 to Athletic Bilbao in La Liga. The visitors were already 2-0 up inside the first twenty minutes and held on to it thanks to their goalkeeper Simon.

The visitors broke the deadlock after eleven minutes play via Iñaki Williams. The forward beat his opponent to the ball when a cross came in and Williams drilled it against the back of the net. Ten minutes later Williams twisted and turned inside the penalty area before feeding the ball to Gorka Guruzeta who fumbled it home at the near post. Los Rojilos could have added more goals in the first half, but Ruben Garcia was thwarted by Osasuna goalie Fernandez and Johan Mojica aimed too high in front of an empty goal.

Osasuna tried to get back in the game in the second half but Simon kept out David Garcia's low header and a low strike from substitute Jose Arnaiz. At the other side Berenguer failed to put the game to bed. In the final minutes Simon tipped away a header from Ezequiel Avila, before he received a red card for a studs-first tackle.

After this defeat at El Sadar, Osasuna is eighth in La Liga with three points out of two games. (KN)
