Our opponents in the next Champions League Round

Coming in second in its group with eleven points, Club Brugge saw its efforts rewarded with a historic ticket to the competition's Round of 16. And who's next? We'll find out on Monday as the draw will be held at 12h. Gear up towards this momentous occasion with a recap on all potential opponents!

Here's a good one to start out with: Club is the only team from bowl 4 to have made it to the Round of 16. In fact, no other bowl 4 team has even qualified for the Europa League.

FCB is only the third Belgian squad to have made it after the group stages, after Anderlecht in 2000 and AA Gent in 2015. Club ended last season in 44th place on the UEFA Club Ranking, and has now moved to 30th after a great run so far. A ranking this high takes us back to 25 years ago.

The draw for the Round of 16 will be taking place in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday 7 November at 12h.

Club Brugge came in second, which means:

  • a group winner will be placed against Club.
  • it can not compete with FC Porto, as they come from the same group.
  • it will play the first leg on home turf.

The first leg will be in Bruges on one of the following dates: 14, 15, 21 or 22 February 2023, while the second leg will be on 7, 8, 14 or 15 March 2023.
