In the playoffs of the Greek Super League, PAOK Saloniki secured a 3-1 victory against PAS Lamia on their own field.
For the home team, Soualiho Meite, known from his time at Zulte Waregem, started on the bench. Ally Samatta, ex-Genk and Antwerp, was given the confidence of coach Lucescu and appeared at the kickoff.
The match could not have started worse for PAOK: after only seven minutes Martinez Granja managed to work the leather into goal in front of goalkeeper Kotarski. PAOK had most of the ball possession after that, but the home side could not create any real goal danger. Yet in injury time of the first half the goal was still 1-1. Michailidis crowned Zivkovic's assist with a goal so the home team still tied the score just before halftime.
In the second half, PAOK again had the absolute upper hand. PAS Lamia barely got in front. Yet it took until the 70th minute for the home team to take the lead. This time it was substitute Schwab who rattled the nets. The assist again came in the name of Zivkovic. Lamia could not really do anything significant in return. The third goal came just before the end of the game. Stefan Schwab scored his second of the night from the penalty spot.
With this win PAOK Saloniki climbs over rival AEK Athens. Blauw-Zwart's opponent has one point ahead of the team from the capital, which still has a game against Panathinaikos on the schedule this matchday. PAOK and AEK will face each other next weekend. (EV)
