KV Oostende defended valiantly and so Club Brugge had to fight until the final minute to keep the three points at home. Philippe Clement, as always, was very down-to-earth in his analysis.
"This was one of the most difficult matches of the season. We knew that, because they are a difficult block to break open, they always play with high pressing and don't give you a second's rest. We started well, but then you run into that one counter. That's unfortunate, because that gives the opponent a lot of energy. It was important that we did not waver and went directly in search of the equalizer. We managed to do that and then at the start of the second half that second goal followed. Then you know it's going to storm: lots of battle, long balls, you name it. It wasn't fantastic academic soccer, but that's not possible against this Ostend either. That's a quality, so that's certainly not meant negatively. They simply don't allow an opponent to play well. Moreover, we did not play enough calm football, otherwise we could have made it easier on ourselves."
