Philippe Clement: "This is a fantastic week"

"This is obviously an important week," the coach begins. "Winning against Genk in the league and then going through here in the cup as well. This is special, because Genk is just a very good team with a very good core and good coach. So we knew we were facing a very tough program this week. Then if you can manage to do that twice, that's a fantastic week. Now we have to confirm this further and that's what my group did today after that reaction on Sunday. I had asked for that and this should be the standard to always keep fighting. So that is not to say that you will always manage to turn around a result there, but that way you force it yourself. Then also the coolness at the end with those penalty kicks...a super night! Everyone was convinced to take a penalty. Some things were also taken out of context last week. For we know what qualities that Leipzig has and we also know our place in that Champions League. The boys have already played 3 very good games in that Champions League and 2 games in which we struggled. Beforehand, everybody had signed for that scenario, but that bar has just been shifted because of the performance of the boys. But I think the reaction of the whole group is clear what our plans are for the coming months," the coach concludes combatively. (TM)
