Philippe Clement: "Unable to capitalize on moments"

Philippe Clement admitted that against Dortmund his team should have faced the law of the strongest. Club went down 3-0 without a chance and thus failed to stunt.

"I immediately said after the draw that Dortmund is the big favorite in this group," Clement said. "It is a team that is 'out of our league.' Then you know you have to be able to grab the small moments against such a team. We also had some moments where we could have scored a goal, but unfortunately we weren't able to capitalize on those moments. If you want to get a result against a team like that, you have to work some miracles: a goalkeeper who grabs everything and be lethal up front in those few chances you get. I experienced that myself once with Club at Milan. Unfortunately, those two things didn't happen today and so this is a logical result."

Dortmund scored the 2-0 on the stroke of halftime, dealing Blauw-Zwart a sledgehammer blow. "After five minutes we had a good chance, but you know that in games like that you have to take advantage of those chances. Then we got a goal against, but we still had moments ourselves in the conversion. Just before halftime, we then had that free kick that is kicked in fantastically, leaving you behind. In the second half we came out harder, but I can't say anything about the mentality of my team. They fought for it, but you know how big the level difference is." (SF)
