Gathering on the day of the match is Thursday at the Hirschenplatz. Not very big, but the place in the center of the old town has certainly already proven itself as a meeting place for soccer fans from all over the world. There are several restaurants and pubs in the vicinity.
How do you get to the stadium?
This can be done primarily on foot for those who wish to do so. Keep in mind to walk for at least an hour. The police provide escorts at various points to get to the stadium in a proper way.
Did you take a bus to Switzerland? Then you can go to a temporary parking lot in the city center. More specific: Stampfenbachstrasse 32. Drivers have two options: either wait and take their guests to the stadium shortly before the match starts. Or drop everyone off in the center and drive straight to the stadium. There, there is a parking zone for buses on Bienenstrasse.
Coming by car? Then you should know that Zurich is not a car-friendly city. There are no parking spaces for cars at the stadium, although there are some parking garages nearby. By public transportation, take streetcar lines 2 or 4.
Letzigrund
At Letzigrund, the stadium of FC Zurich & Grasshopper Club Zurich, there is room for about 30,000 spectators. Due to the long distance between Lugano and Zurich, only a thousand or so home fans are of course expected Thursday night.
The gates to the visitors' area, accessible via Sector D, will open at 5:15 p.m. Keep in mind that there are no lockers available and backpacks or handbags are not allowed. There is also no alcohol available in the stadium and payment is only possible by bank card.
