Joaquin Seys: "They are three important points"

"They are three important points. Especially after the defeat two weeks ago. But it was indeed not easy. Certainly not after an international break and the absence of a few guys. And in the Belgian league it does happen more often that we find it difficult to find openings a low block. That cross was indeed allowed. I resolved before the season to work on that and I am succeeding quite well. In any case, I want to try again in Lisbon. That will be a different match, I expect a more offensive opponent and more space. Winning is important with a view to winning the Champions League. It's also possible, we proved that before against Sporting."

Hans Vanaken: "We have to use our moments better"

Blauw-Zwart knocked Sporting Charleroi with the smallest difference. Captain Hans Vanaken after the win: "At halftime we indicated that we needed to drop more cross passes into the sixteen, so Stankovic and I could come in from the second line. That was missing in the first half. Seys does put the ball there perfectly and then it's up to us to be present. Choosing position is one of my qualities, so I come running in at the right time and was able to slide the ball in."

Charleroi defended strongly, allowing Club to force few chances. "We had to find more depth anyway. Against a low block it's not always easy to find openings, but in the end one was enough."

Blue-Black failed to extend the lead, keeping it exciting until the end. "After the 1-0, after a mistake by their goalkeeper, Vermant had another great chance to double the score. In matches where things are not easy, we have to use our moments even better. If it becomes 2-0 there, you don't get those last ten minutes where balls are pumped and you can still run at 1-1."

Nicky Hayen: "It's a clinical win."

Nicky Hayen looks back on a difficult match. "In the first half we fell back a bit towards the end and struggled, but we knew this wasn't going to be an easy game. Football-wise Charleroi was good and we tried to look for solutions. We had a lot of ball possession and we want to play dominant soccer, but the accumulation of matches makes it difficult to stay fresh in the matches. Of course we were lucky at the end because Charleroi went full for the equalizer and opted for power play, but we managed to keep the three points at home. It's a clinical victory."

Also praised about the reunion with Rik De Mil at Jan Breydel. "It was nice to see Rik De Mil back at Jan Breydel, because he was important for my growth as a coach and what he put in place here."
