After the defeat against Union, Club picked up a pleasing win against FC Lugano. Blue-Black did not put up an impressive performance, but was clearly the better and deservedly kept the three points at home. Coach Ronny Deila was satisfied afterwards with his team's effort.
"It was a tough match. It wasn't easy conditions, because due to the abundant rain the field was heavy. Obviously we were not overflowing with confidence, but I saw a lot of will. The players worked hard and gave nothing away in the first half, with the exception of a header in the closing seconds. In the second half things ran better, we played more liberated and we were also able to score. That goal obviously also gave us confidence. This is another good experience for everyone. I'm happy with this performance."
Jutglà's penalty miss ultimately kept things exciting until the closing seconds. "Hans is number one in penalty kicks and makes the decision on who kicks. I don't know what exactly was discussed, but Jutglà was obviously very disappointed that he didn't score. Thiago, on the other hand, kicked it in well. I'm also happy with Ordóñez's performance. He has been waiting all season for his chance and has made many strides since the summer. He did very well and played with confidence. This way he will still get chances."
Next Sunday awaits the derby against Cercle. "This victory has a positive effect anyway. After Union there was a negative perception, but on the other hand we did win four of the last five matches. Against Union it was really bad, but in the other defeats we could have won just as well. Out of 24 matches, we lost five times, one of which was really deserved. I'm not saying we should have always won in the other defeats, but there was more in it each time. I'm tired of always talking about the same things. You know that at a top club there is always pressure, so that is normal. Performing under pressure is not easy and that is also a new fact for some players. You shouldn't put too much pressure on yourself either, because then you can cramp up. I mainly want the players to be themselves, have fun on the field and then the results will come by themselves. The players want to perform for me, for the club and for everyone. The important thing now is to rebuild self-confidence. I was very happy how the fans supported us today and we will need that support on Sunday as well." (SF)
