Club struck out as usual and wrapped up RWDM 7-1. Coach Deila consequently gloated after the match.
"I have experienced it a few times in my coaching career that we were able to score 7 goals, but obviously that doesn't happen very often," the coach gloated. "We mainly wanted to take control of the game quickly in the first half, but we lost the ball a little too easily. However, the boys managed to avoid that more and more as time went on and in the second half we just did very well. After the equalizer, we also kept going in order to quickly make it 2-1. The way we managed the different phases in the match was very good. We didn't give up and kept going until we finally made 7. That says something about the mentality and they like to just play soccer and for me as a coach that's a joy to see."
It was hard to pick out one favorite goal. "On a collective level, I am perhaps the most satisfied of the wingers scoring. In fact, I had asked them to get into the box more to create extra danger. Nusa was present where he needed to be and he ended up scoring. In addition, he got numerous chances, whereas otherwise he kept running mostly in midfield. Skov(Olsen) was also incredibly strong today and often got into areas where we want to see him. He always provided threat with his left foot. Of course, in general I did enjoy every goal."
The collective was also emphasized again with Nusa's goal. "That was indeed a great example of teamwork. Everyone tries hard (also at training) and then you also get the chance from me to prove yourself on the field."
Blue-Black seems to have its back after last season. "I thought there were a lot of positives last season as well, like for example the strong campaign in the UEFA Champions League. There were also many quality players then and Club was also a top club then. Of course, there were also some problems and now we are also very early in the season. What I am especially satisfied with is the way the boys respond and how much they give for the team. They work for each other on the court and have fun as well. We always want to keep growing and playing with a smile on our face. We have to enjoy every day we are together, but of course also work hard and show discipline. Then everything is possible, but right now it is still very early. The spirit and the joy of playing together are most important to me.
