After a difficult period, Blauw-Zwart recorded a pleasing victory against Lugano. Coach Deila was consequently a satisfied man after his team's performance.
"Obviously we have a good feeling after this match," the coach begins. "After Saturday's match, it was a difficult situation and a difficult week anyway. Consequently, we had to rectify something and put in a better performance and I do think we succeeded. I said beforehand that we needed to play more compact and be more aggressive and mature. We did that well today, except after 10 minutes in the second half. That was a lesser period from us. However, in the first half I don't think they had one chance and in that we had the complete dominance. We also took our moments today and that was important. When everyone gives 100% and does their job, luck comes naturally to our side. That was a good feeling today."
"It was also good that we had Casper back today and I thought he played a good game. Now we actually have four instead of two midfielders that we can rotate with. That will be necessary, too, because we still play a lot of games. They are all good footballers, so it will be especially important to use the right players at the right time. That way we can also make substitutions during the match more easily. That's why I was very pleased with Balanta and Nielsen, among others, because that's not obvious when you haven't played for a long time. Now they all played almost 90 minutes, so I think that's chapeau."
Thiago again did not have an easy match. "I have the feeling that sometimes he thinks too much in the actions he does. I don't think that's illogical either, because he has never played in a team like Club Brugge before. So he still has to learn, but he did make a good start to this season. Now he is not scoring as well and his timing is not always right. Then stress sometimes takes over from quality, so those are things we have to work on. So it's definitely not about attitude, but more about understanding how he has to deal with the pressure as a striker with a top team like Club Brugge."
Coach Deila was especially pleased with the way Club took the win. "Obviously the result is the most important thing, but I'm also very happy with the way we won tonight. That was something I did see this season and we have to build on that. We can always do better with the ball at foot, but it starts with laying a good foundation and hard work and organization. From those principles, skills and belief then grow in the next games. We as a group must now continue to do like this and work towards the next matches with our heads up. I am convinced that we can do this together and tonight was a good start and on that we will build towards the future," concludes a hopeful Ronny Deila.(TM)
