Club soldiers on in the Belgian Cup after a 0-6 win over Beerschot. Nothing but smiles in coach Deila as he was asked what he though of his team's performance.
Beerschot's T1 indicated the game had been played after fifteen minutes. "That's a bit too early, really. I reckon we put in a fine performance today, and that we came well-prepared. We managed to bring pain to their wings, and managed to defend well too. Except for a couple of shots, I do not think they created any clear chances. We played a compact game, and we proved very efficient making the most of the chances we created at the start of the game. We maybe could have scored even more in the second half, but all in all I am very impressed with my team. Capitalizing on their mistakes is a quality too, and we did that perfectly today. We were very efficient, scored that first goal, and that early goal made it a lot more easier on us, boosting our confidence and letting it grow early into the game. I didn't ask my team to take on a more relaxed stance in the second half in order to retain some energy. I did put on a number of fresh players, as we will be needing all oof them. It allowed some playing time for those who do not always play, and that's also an added bonus. A great day for us. Scoring a lot of goals is also very important to your confidence level. We managed to do so earlier this season, but only in periods. We should gain some consistency in that respect, and let's hope the goals come on Sunday at Union too”, a satisfied Ronny Deila concluded. (TM)
