Ronny Deila can be satisfied with the start of this European campaign against Denmark's Aarhus. Blue-Black won by generous 3-0 figures and the coach saw a solid performance from the team.
"I am satisfied from this match. It was a really good performance. I saw hard work, discipline and organization. Offensively, speed and position changes; we did all these things well. Aarhus didn't have any real chances and we had about 10. I am proud of the players. The supporters also supported us and pushed us forward. They turned it back into a fortress so it became difficult for the opponent."
Skov Olsen and Buchanan played very strong, much to the delight of the new coach. "I was satisfied with the right flank with Skov Olsen and Buchanan, but there is always room for improvement. Both players have the speed and there was danger coming from that flank. Buchanan was solid defensively, as a fullback you have to be able to do this. Both offensively and defensively it was top notch today. He is certainly good enough as our back, the right side is his strong suit. It's all about the present in soccer. He likes being here, trains well and he is still getting better. In the meantime I want him to stay, I think he is a top player."
Next week's return match should be a formality. "It should have been played with this result, but things can change in Europe. With Celtic I have already seen the difficulty of it. This kind of confrontation lasts a hundred and eighty minutes and we have to keep performing. Sunday is already a new test. We have to be there every time, both in the league and in Europe. Today was a good performance with hard work, discipline and organization. We have to show that on Sunday, back on Thursday and the weeks after. Everyone has to be ready to play because hopefully we will play a lot of European games next month." (KN)
