After the forfeit victory against KAS Eupen, coach Deila obviously could not help but be satisfied with the performance.
"Of course I am very satisfied," the coach began his account. "I thought we delivered a top performance today. Then I'm mainly talking about the fact that we executed the simple things correctly and put good high pressing. That way we were able to catch their switch moments well. The first goal was of course a very important one and especially because it fell so early. So they had to come early and that created more space. Throughout the match we were very disciplined, well organized and worked for each other. Then you also saw more and more confidence on the ball as the match went on. We could maybe even score more, but five goals is obviously a lot. Last year we still lost here in Eupen, so this does say something about our performance today."
Zinckernagel was in the starting lineup for the first time and thanked with two goals. "I thought he was top today. I know he is a quality player and when he plays in a team with other players with a lot of quality, he will get even better. You already saw that today that he was involved in a lot of actions and immediately got the right rhythm. The connection with other players such as Andreas(Skov Olsen), Hans(Vanaken) and Thiago was also immediately good. The team also adapted well and the substitutes also did their job well. That's obviously nice to see for a coach."
It seems that coach Deila has already found his fixed base eleven. "It's a big league and with that I do think consistency is important. Consequently, we don't want to make a lot of substitutions every week, so that won't happen. It is important that the basic team feels the confidence and can play together week after week to improve those automatisms. Of course, there will be some substitutions for Thursday's match. However, everyone is fighting well for a starting place and I notice that at training as well. Nusa, for example, was very strong on Thursday, but Philip(Zinckernagel) was just as strong today."
The turnaround already seems well underway at Club. "I know how fast things can go in soccer. Now we played some matches where everyone expected us to win them. Of course that always puts pressure on the club and it's not always obvious to live up to that. As a top club, we have to be able to cope with being favorites. We've handled that very well in recent games. There are obviously bigger matches to come and then we will get new answers. We will also learn a lot from these matches (both positive and negative) and that is how we can grow. Everyone at the club wants to get better and better, and I think that is perhaps the most important thing. But in a top club like Club Brugge, in the end everything is also about results."
Finally, the impending transfer of Rits was also briefly discussed. "I do regret it, because he is a top guy and good player and he has had a fantastic career at Brugge. Besides, I do understand that he is thinking about his future and that he gets more security in Anderlecht. However, it is also a difficult situation for him, but he is handling it maturely. He has values and he felt that this is the right choice for him, so then this is the right thing to do," the coach concluded after the big win against Eupen.
