A dominant Blauw-Zwart and the first win of the season pleased coach Deila a lot.
"This victory feels tremendously good," Deila said in his post-match interview. "Especially the way we did it makes me feel immensely pleased. We could have scored maybe 3, 4 or 5 goals. Even in the difficult moments at the end, when they (Westerlo) put more pressure, we remained calm in a good way. Consequently, I am very proud of the players today. Offensively it was very good today, because we pressed high up the pitch with the entire team. We played offensively, found the space and also won our one-on-one duels. So I can take a lot of positives today. Last week against Mechelen we also played well, but we made it difficult for ourselves because of that red card. As a result, we lost the balance in the team. Today, however, that balance was there and we played disciplined, but should have put the game to bed. We had a lot of chances, so I was convinced we would score anyway. This is a step forward, but our efficiency in front of goal can still improve."
Deila also looked ahead. "Every opponent is tough, but we are also a tough opponent when we play like today. We started the season well as a group, because that is not so obvious with a new coach. There are a lot of changes and we have to get to know each other a bit. However, we are through in Europe and have four in six in the league. We have put ourselves in a good position and now the focus has to go to the next game. We work hard every day to improve, because that will be necessary if we want to progress in Europe and at the same time be competitive in the Jupiler Pro League." (TM).
