A tremendous setback at Union left coach Ronny Deila bitterly disappointed. The lack of intensity in his players really left him disheartened.
“I am extremely disappointed", Club's coach opened the debates. "I reckon our first half was really sub standard. Those first fifteen were okay, and I reckon we may have even been the slightly better team at that point, but after that we were just too slow. Too many balls through the heart too, allowing them to go on the break way too easily. We lost too many balls in defense, putting us opened up and too far from one another.”
In the pre-match talk, it was said that this would be a battle, and particularly in the first half, it looked like Club was not ready for one. "That's right, and just unforgiveable. We need to show much more than what we've shown today. That is also why I brought on three in the second half in one go. We needed to find that goal, and play a more offensive game. The changes brougt some good, new energy to the team. We also scored in that period, and we made our way back to the game. It came as a blow, obviously, that we conceded that second on the break.”
Climbing in the league is of utmost importance now. "We need to hold on to several basic aspects to do so. Intensity is key, that should always be part of our game. Apart from that we need to further develop our attacking play to create more chances. It's mostly in away games that we suffer, as I don't believe we have lost at home this season. We really need to start learning how to win away games. I'm fully convinced that we are capable of turning this around, it's still early days in this season. There's no denying, however, that I am very very disappointed about this game, particularly when it comes to intensity, which was not worthy of Club Brugge. That's something we first need to take on in Thursday's game (against Lugano)", a downhearted Club coach concluded. (TM)
