A pre-war socre for Club, putting seven (!) past RWDM. A beaming coach Deila had his say after the game.
"I've had some emphatic wins like this before in my career, but it does not happen every day, obviously", the coach smiled. "We wanted to take matters in hand early on in the game, but suffered a bit too much ball loss. As the game went on, however, the boys managed to avoid that more and more, and in the second half we were just excellent. After that equaliser, we also kept pushing to quickly score that second goal. The way in which we managed the different parts of the game was very good. We don't give up, and keep going until we finally scored seven. Kudos to that mentality, and they just love playing football like that, and to me as a coach it's just wonderful to behold."
Picking out one goal of the game is downright impossible. "From a collective viewpoint, the goals of our wingers pleased me the most. I asked them to get in that box more often and create more danger. Nusa was where he was supposed to be, and in the end he also scored. He also had his fair share of chances, when in other games he is mainly in midfield. Skov (Olsen) was unbelievable today, showing up in areas where we want to see him. He was a constant threat with his left foot. But I really did enjoy every single goal."
The team really showed its prowess in Nusa's goal. "That was the perfect example of team work indeed. Everyone's doing their darndest, also at training, and when you do so, you get the chance to show it on the pitch."
It seems like Club Brugge is getting back to its more galvanized ways after a pale season. "I reckon there was plenty of positive sides to last season too, such as that impressive UEFA Champions League run. Club's selection also featured some quality players, making it a top team. Obviously there must have been some problems too, and it's still early days in this season too. What pleases me the most, is the way the guys react, and how much they are willing to give for the team. They work for each other on the pitch, and enjoy their game too. We want to keep growing, and playing with a smile on our faces. We really should enjoy every single day that we are together, of course with lots of hard work and the necessary disciplin. Then we can reach great heights, but it's still too early. The spirit, and the joy to be playing together, that's what's vital. And tonight's performance reflected all of that on the pitch", a satisfied coach concluded. (TM)
