Ronny Deila: “Equaliser testament to the team mentality”

Jupiler Pro League

Ronny Deila had no trouble coming to terms with the draw at Anderlecht, even if he was of the opinion that his team had the better claim to the win.

“We started out poorly, wanting to put pressure but in doing so too passively. We found our way into the game after twenty  minutes, but then they scored out of nothing just before half time. After the break we returned filled with energy, applying pressure and scoring too. If you had to pick one team to win this one, it should have been ours. Keep in mind that this Anderlecht side has a lot of quality. We only gave them one chance. We did not showcase the same level of offensive power as we did on Thursday, though. The fact that this pitch was not up to par also plays its part. It was hard to play a passing game, so we had to fight. But the fact that we managed to stand up having conceded a goal is testament to the mentality of this team. We are happy with the point, even if we came here to get three. We took on a different stance by the end of the game. You should always have a plan B and a plan C. With all those games coming in quick succession, it is hard to get the gropu to learn new stuff, but we try to improve game after game.” (SF)
