Rough night for Club who slip to a 0-5 defeat against PSG

Club Brugge suffered a 0-5 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on matchday 3 in the Champions League. Mauro Icardi broke the deadlock inside the first ten minutes, while the blue and black showed passion but failed to create great chances. After the break Kylian Mbappé showed his immense classe. The French international scored a hat-trick and gave the assist for Icardi's double.

Due to Ruud Vormer's suspension, Philippe Clement missed a crucial pawn in his tactical approach to this game. Éder Balanta wasn't match ready yet, so Clement gave the nod to Charles De Ketelaere. After the cup game at Francs Borains, it was only the second game in the starting line-up for the 18-year-old.

In front Percy Tau forced Siebe Schrijvers on the bench. For PSG, former Club Brugge player Thomas Meunier was in the starting eleven.

Mbappé and Cavani, both just back from an injury, were on the bench while Neymar had picked up an injury earlier and didn't travel to Brugge. Yet, the start-studded side from the French capital still had a lot of quality.

Under ten minutes in the game the visitors already broke the deadlock when Thiago Silva's 40 meter pass reached Di Maria on the right-hand side. The Argentinian squared it for Icardi who fired in past from close range. Club responded with a an effort by Diatta, but were lucky to see that Di Maria didn't double the lead after fifteen minutes play when he curled his effort just wide.

Eventhough Vormer was missed in midfield, Club was able to put its foot next PSG's halfway the first half. De Ketelaere showed he has potential and almost scored when goalkeeper Navas tried to clear the ball, but hit De Ketelaere and then saw the ball loop over his crossbar.

Les Parisiens defended very well which made it very difficult for Club to create clear-cut chances. And when Club looked like creating a good chance, Dennis saw his effort blocked before Navas was called upon.

Club came out of the dressing rooms searching for an equaliser. Diatta tried to tee up Percy Tau, but just couldn't find the South African in front of goal. On the other side of the pitch Mignolet needed a good save to parry away Icardi's shot.

A few minutes later PSG coach Tuchel brought on star player Mbappé, while Okereke substituted De Ketelaere.

The blue and black wanted the equaliser, but saw their hope shattered on the hour mark when Mbappé fired in on the break and gave the assist for Icardi's second of the evening two minutes later.

Game over for Club against a highly superior and efficient PSG. Club deserved a goal, but was unlucky in front of goal. Okereke's strike just went past the far post and Diatta saw his goal ruled out for handball.

No consolation goal for Club, but a hat-trick for Kylian Mbappé. The French international squandered two chances, but the 20-year-old phenomenon hurt Club's defence with his speed and scored two more goals to complete his hat-trick.

It was a rough night for Club who suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat. As Real Madrid beat Galatasaray 0-1, the Spaniards are now second in Group A, Club is third.
