Did you know that UEFA also organizes a Champions League for FIFA 23 players? Now you do! Our esporter Rudi Ekmen has qualified for the group stages of the tournament and will meet the 63rd other best players in Europe this weekend in London. A historic achievement whose follow-up you can follow closely!
Last season Blauw-Zwart teamed up with main partner Unibet to find a new esporter. Several top players from our country competed to become a FIFA player of Club Brugge and receive a cheque worth €5000. The now 22-year-old Rudi Ekmen emerged as the winner and, after his first season in the ePro League, was immediately contracted for a longer period at Blauw-Zwart.
In his second season with FCB, Ekmen's level only went up. In the preliminaries of the eChampions League, no fewer than nine players went for the axe and he was the only Belgian to qualify for the last 64. Historic and now the fairy tale is getting a sequel in London. Ekmen travels to the British capital tonight where he will speak to UEFA's cameras on Friday and can already prepare for several hours for the most important day: Saturday. Because then it will be "le moment suprême.
What's it like?
A true FIFA 23 fan? Then names like Tekzz, Nicolas Villalba, Umut or Anders Vejrgang may not sound strange to your ears. The 64 best players in Europe will gather in London this weekend. They will be divided into two groups, with Rudi ending up in Group A. Using a swiss format, Ekmen will have to play a maximum of five 'best of 2' matches. Does he win three of them? Then he qualifies for the last 32 and heads to London again at the end of April. The players who survive then will play for the eChampions League trophy on June 10 just before the real Champions League final in Istanbul. If Rudi cannot win three games this weekend, his adventure ends. In total, the prize pool is about 260,000 euros.
