Ruud Vormer: “We knew when to take our moments”

It was a smooth win against Marc Brys' Oud-Heverlee Leuven. Again a solid, mature performance from the blue and black who continue their winning streak in the Jupiler Pro League. Captain Ruud Vormer was pleased after the game, also with his penalty goal.

"If this win came natural? In a way it did, yes. We knew when to take our moments. It's great what we showed again today. We didn't give away a single chances. During the first half the visitors put some pressure on us but we weathered those periods without too much problem. This was a massive performance, we're on the right track. And I got to score myself. Normally Hans (Vanaken, ed) takes the spot kicks, but now it was my turn. I'm happy that I smashed it home. Did I mean something with my goal celebration? Not really, I just imitated Mata."

Ignace Van der Brempt scored his first goal for Club after a great move. The skipper has nothing but praise for the academy player. "Ignace is a bit like Meunier. Always going forward and keeping an overview. I see that boy doing his utter best every single day. This is good form him."

Thursday evening Club has another massive game at hand, the return game against Dynamo Kyiv. "This was a nice dress rehearsal", Vormer said. "It's going to be a special day, but we're just going to do our thing." The big question is if Club will recover a couple of regulars who are now out due to COVID-19. "It would be nice for us if we had some players returning to the team. I really hope so. Without them, you miss some quality obviously." (EV)
