Siebe Schrijvers: “Lots of duels on an impossible pitch”

Another start for Siebe Schrijvers. The forward was unable to thwart Gent's plan to travel home with some points, however. To boot, the attacker was frustrated to see a number of opportunities saved by Kaminski or blocked by a Gent defender.

“Playing Gent, it's always a tight game. These games come with lots of duelling, and on what was not exactly a flourishing pitch, it's hard to bring some fine combining football. Nevertheless, we managed to cause some threats, but we should be able to do better at home. We came well prepared, and knew just how Gent was probably going to go about things. They have a sturdy team, well-organised. That must have been an advantage on this type of pitch. We hardly had any chances, particularly in the first half, but after the break we managed to hurt them a number of times. When we drew level, I thought we were going to go over them, but it was not to be. With a bit of luck, we could have won both games against Charleroi and against Gent. We now need to forget about this draw as quickly as we can, and start focusing on next week's derby.” (FDC)
