Simon Mignolet: “Fine first leg result”

UEFA Conference League

Action by Simon Mignolet was sparse today, but the visitors put one past him nonetheless. In the end, Black and Blue earned a solid 5-1 victory.

“This result gives us a good hand for the second game, and that was what we intended. We took this game on in a very professional way. We could have widened the gap even further in the second half, but 5-1 is a fine result, something for the fans to behold at the start of the season. The visitors' deadlock only really broke down after our second and third goal. We put ourselves in the driving seat for the second game.”

Club forgot to add more to the tally in the second half. “A number of guys had their chance to show what they've got, for some it had taken some time since they last played. It takes getting used to, adjusting to the stadium and the players too. It's only logical we had some trouble in the second half, but we picked up things soon after. We conceded a goal in that tough period. What's positive is that we managed to turn things round and add another goal. We even had more chances to broaden the score after that.” (KN)
