Simon Mignolet: "Two clean sheets at home"

Simon Mignolet did great to keep Club in the game in the first half. The Blues restored the balance in the second half, but couldn't score against the league leaders. Just like in the match at Union in the first round, Mignolet was voted Man of the Match again.

"Union was the better team in the first half. They created a number of clear-cut chances, but luckily I was there to keep a clean sheet and help the team with a point. I'm happy with that. I hoped to see us score after the break and get the three points, but unfortunately that didn't happen. That would have been brilliant. I can only hope that this point will be important in the end. Undav's strike was the toughest one tonight to keep out. I had to run back and tip the ball from under the bar. It's not easy to jump back as a goalkeeper."

Club put it foot next to Union after the half-time break. "In the first half Union dictated the pace of the game and we struggled to keep the ball in the team. We changed that at half-time. It was a better second half tactically with more possession and more control. But we couldn't find the breakthrough goal. We have now kept a clean sheet twice at home. If you can add the creation of chances to that, then you're on the right track with the new coach. We will improve as a team."

Simon Mignolet sees Union as a clear title contender. "Union showed they are a great side. A solid team with players who work very hard, don't make silly mistakes and are well-organized. In front they have two players who can easily score a goal. We have to see Union as a real threat for the title, but it's now up to them to keep their position. But to be clear, I'd rather be nine points in front as well. They've earned that lead. We'll now see how they will deal with it. The only thing we can do is look at ourselved and try to close that gap." (KN)
