Simon Mignolet: "Will have our chances against Dortmund too"

Club had its fair share of chances against Lazio in the second half. The Italians maintained a solid organisation and stuck to defending, but with fifteen minutes to go, an excellent chance for a hold-up came to Milinkovic-Savic. With an excellent save, Simon Mignolet made sure the 1-1 remained on the boards.

“We didn't have the best of starts to the game, but we did put in a fine full-time performance. Particularly against this Lazio, forced to make some changes, but still capable of lining up a formidable team. Despite the handful of chances for Lazio, we definitely had the better opportunities, especially after the break. But this is the Champions League, you need to do more with these chances at this level. They also have a fine goalkeeper making sure nothing gets past."

With four points after two games, Club is definitely playing its part in Group F. "At the time of the draw, I already said that it would be tight until the very last game. It's a good thing that Zenit didn't grab any points, in view of that third place. The positive side is that we're competing, which is vital after two games. But it's still early days, four more games to play, and we are still to play Dortmund. We knew some of their players really well. We now know what Zenit and Lazio are capable of, and we showed that we can put our foot next to theirs. We should do the same against Dortmund. At first we thought that Dortmund would be our strongest opponent, even if we are not without a chance either. We shoud believe in ourselves and try to play our own game." (KV)
