The evening is complete. After winning the Goalkeeper of the Year award, Simon Mignolet now also wins the 2022 Golden Shoe!
Big Si pulled ahead of Casper Nielsen and Mike Trésor in the votes. It is the first time in no less than 33 years that a goalkeeper, after Michel Preud'homme in 1989, can receive the award again. Simon proved his great class last year more than ever in the league and playoffs and was of vital importance in Blauw-Zwart's successful Champions League campaign. After his award for Goalkeeper of the Year, he now also wins the top prize and may call himself the 2022 Golden Shoe.
Mignolet thus ensures that for the 15th time in history Blauw-Zwart may receive a Golden Shoe in its own ranks. He is only the sixth goalkeeper in Belgian history to receive the award.
