Sunday night a lot of American Football enthusiasts watched the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the final of the American Football League. The Super Bowl is often seen as one of the greatest sporting events of the year, but it's no match against European football - or soccer if you will - Statista points out. It's still too early to have official viewing ratings of the 2021 Super Bowl, but the 2020 edition lured 150 million people to watch.
A lot of people, obivously, but nothing compared to football: the last three World Championship finals were watched by over half a billion people. 517 million people saw France win the World Cup against Croatia in 2018. The Champions League final was more populare than the Super Bowl as well. The 2018 final between Real Madrid and Liverpool was watched by 380 million fans. Football still rules on TV.
